In this class which is Video Production we learn different filming skills from learning different type shots to making short films. All these skills are going to be important in the future because certain opportunities can come up that have to do with this and you will already have experience on it. In this project we had to make a public service announcement to show how they treat any type of farm animal and to show the cruel truth of how they're treated and to try and persuade people to not support this and inform them of their unfair living conditions.
This project was a collaboration between two different classes video production and Agriculture. In agriculture class we were learning about how bad farm animals are treated and their horrible living conditions. This lead to us making a public service announcement in video production about this topic. In this assignment we had to make a informative and persuasive video of the terrible living conditions of farm animals for example chickens and pigs and how bad they are treated even if they are labeled as “cage free”. Some of the requirements for this project was doing voiceovers and obviously including photos. My teammate and I chose to do our PSA on swine and how bad they are treated. We had to research a little more about this so we could have solid evidence to back up our statement. We also had to make a story board and put everything we were going to include in our video. After we read articles we had information to include so we put pictures to backup the evidence put a couple voiceovers and the solution and we were done. Some of the things I learned from doing this project was definitely how the pigs are treated that but most importantly I learned how to transition photos, how to make text move, how to add voice overs and how to add text. This work shows me that after I start to practice something I get the hang of it and can add a lot of good things that will make the project better.
Two of the SLO I demonstrated in this artifact were thinking creatively and critically and self director who communicates effectively. I demonstrated thinking creatively and critically because without creativity I wouldn’t be able to add all the transitions and photos and all the small things to make the video better. Another of these SLO I demonstrate was self director who communicates effectively because to make the video it was all up to us and we had to choose what we were going to include. I also had to communicate with my partner so we wouldn’t do double work. A SLO I could of demonstrated better would be mastering skills because I am just beginner and I still have a lot to learn.
One of the most important things I have learned in this class would be the different shot types because before I was in this class I thought every clip is the same but now I have a different perspective when I watch something. Another important thing I learned this year would be how to edit video on premiere pro. When you make a video this is an important factor to make it look better and more professional with the minimum flaws as possible. These skills will help me in the future because you see a lot of ads now a days and if you ever have to do this you will have experience on doing this.
During the class of video productions, the learning objectives are to learn different ways on how to make videos and learn different skills and angles for those videos. This is valuable to my future because if I ever have an important event in my life I will be able to help out to make a video for memories. The project that I am submitting as an artifact for video productions had the following learning objectives to learn different video skills such as filming and editing them to make them to the best of our abilities. These link back to the course learning objectives by demonstrating what we have learned.
The assignment or project was about recreating a movie scene and required me to make a script, find actors, and camera people. The Process I went through to do this project and meet the learning objectives first started with me making a script and printing it out then give it to my actors. Once this was done we had to rehearse and memorize the lines so we can make it the best as possible. After I had to find people to take care of cameras and actually practice acting in the setting we were going to record. Once we recorded the scene I had to edit the clips and make them just right.Throughout this process listed above I have realized I have learned or grown in the following ways on how to deal with cameras and all their settings and how to act. These link back to the course goals and project goals with the following evidence of my skills with cameras. This tells me the following about myself and how I learn when I am dedicated to something and I actually want to learn it I will pick it up fairly quick.
The Two School Wide Learning Outcomes I demonstrated with this Artifact are Thinking critically and creatively and Self Directed learner who communicates effectively.
I have demonstrated Thinking critically and creatively in the artifact by demonstrating on how I directed my actors and how they decided to act. If i didn’t have creativity then it wouldn’t of come out as good as it did. This is important because everything you do in life you’re going to need your creativity to do a good job. The Second SLO I demonstrated was Self Directed learner who communicates effectively. By talking to my teacher and my fellow helper Adrian to improve my clips and make them better. I also had to communicate with my actors to come to an agreement of a day we could act it out. It's important because if you don't communicate with people not only will you be lost but you will be lone. I could have improved the following SLO Mastering skills needed in career and college
better by studying more on what I had to learn and to master it.
Overall the the most important things I have learned in this class this year are how to act and how to stay in character. These skills I have learned in this class will help me in the future by being a more patient person not only for acting but for every situation I will be in.
