During the class of English 4, the learning objectives include being able to efficiently analyze a given passage, improve our writing skills by assigned essays, proofread to further improve our initial essays, and exercise our argumentative and persuasive skills by debates held in class.
The objective of the personal insight questions assignment was to pick 4 different questions that best reflect your individual circumstances and answer them persuasively with a 350 word limit. The first step I took to succeed in this assignment was choosing questions that I could relate to the most, so it could be easier for me to write and so it can sound better overall. What I took away from this assignment was how many things i've actually done and accomplished to help me grow as a person, whether it was soft or hard skills.
The two SLO’s I demonstrated were Thinking critically and creatively and Mastering skills needed in career and college. I thought critically and was wise with choosing the questions that best suited me. I demonstrated skills needed in college by writing enough and still not going over the word limit, using technical vocabulary, and describing events efficiently. Both these SLO’s are important because you will use these in your day to day life.
The two most important things I have learned from this class are how to be persuasive and how to write a professional essay. These skills will help me in the future because if you’re in a debate and need to convince someone about something important you will need to be persuasive to convince them. If you are in college or in specific jobs writing an essay is key to success.
